Sound Of Football Podcast 278 Foreign coaches
This week saw Jurgen Klinsmann removed from his role as head coach for the US national team after they lost consecutive World Cup Qualifying matches for the first time in 15 years. Their defeat to Mexico being only their second home defeat in World Cup qualification since they hosted the tournament in 1994.
Back in the summer the former German International was being strongly linked to the role of England manager and even now sits high in the betting, albeit a considerable distance behind Gareth Southgate.
Englands experience of non-domestic coaches is seen by many as a failure but are they right? What do foreign coaches offer? Is it an admission of a weak domestic system of coaching or an ambition to broaden the countrys football outlook?
On this weeks podcast, Graham, Terry and Jan look at the major issues regarding the use of foreign coaches for international sides.
