ACURA TL 2012 SPECIFICATIONS
Acura is 25 years old this year. In the last quarter century have had great success (Legend Integra, NSX, MDX) and made a few hooks (CL, for example). However, the recent failure of a big nose design of metal in the TL 2009-11 was important because it potentially weakens strong sales of Acuras best-selling sedan. Own up to error, Acura softened the look of the car by 2012 through reducing the hood line and reducing the overall scale of the peak as a shield. The rear also has become less angular, and total vehicle length is reduced by 1.5 inches. There were small cosmetic changes inside the car as well, but beyond the re-skin, the largest improvements include more sensitive direction, thanks to a recalibration of the electric power steering system, and an automatic update five-speed in favor of a rapid shift six-speed. And, yes, you can still get a six-speed transmission with a clutch too.
Technology Tidbit: When lowered Acura TL peak and smoothed the back of the car, they found they could reduce drag by 5.4 percent, and get better engine performance by changing the route of intake to ingest as much air from outside the car and less of the engine compartment. The cold air prevents the delay of ignition that can steal in warm climates, performance. These changes and a whopping 14 percent higher final drive scored a gain of about 11% in fuel economy for front-drive model and a 5% increase in the AWD model.
