During a month in which Americas overall passenger car market held steady, big volume-brand cars tumbled 16%, a loss of 7724 units across 11 nameplates.

The segments top-selling Chevrolet Impala was down 30%. Basement dwellers like the Hyundai Azera and Kia Cadenza each fell 47%. The Dodge Charger and Toyota Avalons losses were more moderate. 

Exceptions to the November rule? Buick LaCrosse volume shot up 71% to its second 5K+ month of the year. 

The Chrysler 300, down 6.5% through eleven months, was up 18% in November. Combined, the 300 and Charger outsold the Impala by 2017 units, but trailed the Impala and LaCrosse by 3066 units.

Meanwhile, civilian Ford Taurus sales plunged 38% to just 2733 units. Ford added 679 sales via the Taurus Police Interceptor.

In July 2014, total GM Canada volume shot up 25% compared with July 2013, and the companys Lambda-platform large crossovers played a role in the companys gains.

1387 Buick Enclaves, Chevrolet Traverses, and GMC Acadias were sold last month, a 69% increase from the 821 sold in Canada in the year ago period. 

Meanwhile, Ford sold 1263 Explorers plus another 422 copies of the Flex. Chrysler Canada reported only 210 Durango sales, the lowest total since December of last year, but also 1418 sales of the two-row Jeep Grand Cherokee. 

Overall, the new vehicle market was up 11% in Canada in July 2014. The Enclave, Traverse, Durango, Edge, Explorer, Flex, Acadia, Grand Cherokee, CX-9, Murano, Pathfinder, 4Runner, Highlander, and Touareg all produced gains in excess of the markets July average.

The next generation of the combination of lifestyle-dominated character.
Audi A4 in the fall of 2014 in the trade. As is known now, its already a short time later, following station wagon. For the A4 Avants successor (see photo montage above) is in the spring of 2015, which is only about half a year later to market than the new sedan.

More than Avant Sportback
The new middle-class estate is more of a Sportback than a station wagon. He is to hold its own against the new BMW 3 Series Touring, which was presented a few days ago for the first time. Particularly striking is the steep rear end combined with an unusually angled rear window. Provide particularly narrow front headlights, which will also be available with all-LED technology, striking for a look. The upper edges of the single-frame grille is still slanted more. Otherwise, the newcomer very similar to its predecessor, which in view of the good sales figures certainly not a mistake. The lifestyle estate car and slims from: Thanks to an increased aluminum content of the new Audi A4 Avant is about 100 pounds lighter than its predecessor. This is around six percent lighter than the current model, which leads depending on the equipment and engine about 1,500 kilos.

Wide range of engines
Engines are the same as in the saloon. The turbocharged gasoline engines output 143 (1.4 TFSI), 177 and 225 hp (both 2.0 TFSI). When the diesels can choose the customers for engines with 122, 150, 197, 218 and 272 hp. There will also be a plug-in hybrid version that can be up to 25 kilometers purely on electric power.

The Honda Civic was Canadas best-selling car in 2014, the 17th consecutive year in which the Civic has topped Canadas car sales leaderboard. Although the Civic hasnt been Canadas best-selling vehicle overall since 2008, Civic volume in 2014 reached its highest point since then.

The Civic accounted for nearly 9% of all Canadian passenger car sales in 2014, up from just over 8% in 2013. As the car market stumbled - and the overall auto industry soared to record highs - Civic sales increased. Its top competitor, the Hyundai Elantra, slid 8%, but its fall wasnt sufficient for the surging Toyota Corolla to grab the number two spot.

Canadas top-selling midsize car in 2014 was the ninth-ranked Fusion. But like the second and third and fourth-ranked midsize cars, Fusion sales dropped in 2014. 

Canadas leading subcompact was the Hyundai Accent. With 23,173 sales, the Accent sold more often in 2014 than at any time since 2010. Combined with the second-ranked subcompact, the Accent-platform-sharing Kia Rio, Hyundai-Kia sold 37,631 subcompacts in Canada in 2014.

As U.S. sales of their three most direct truck-based rivals declined in September 2014, GMs quartet of volume brand full-size SUVs posted significant year-over-year sales increases last month.

Suburban volume shot up by 1368 units, a 50% gain. The Tahoes increase, at 7% and 359 units, was less impressive, but it is the Tahoe that leads the category. Yukon sales were up 94%, a 1559-unit improvement. Yukon XL volume jumped 64% to 2165 units, an increase of 845 sales.

Together, they were responsible for generating 74.8% of the categorys September sales; 76.2% through the first three quarters of 2014. Ford Expedition sales, up 19% this year, slid 3% in September. The Nissan Armada slid 23% last month; the Toyota Sequoia was down 16%.

Including the Cadillac Escalade and Escalade ESV, General Motors produced 8.4% of the companys U.S. September sales with full-size SUVs, up from 6.8% a year ago.
